forum.emesene.org was disabled since it was full of spam and google was threatening me to disable my google account because of the pr0n
about emesene 2 and some complaints:
- yes, we know emesene 2.11.4 is a little rough around the edges, but we needed to make a release to reach a wider audience, get more feedback and hopefully more developers (help us!)
- emesene 1 won't come back, anyone who wants to keep it alive may fork it but we encourage you to make emesene 2 as good (and better) than emesene 1, after all emesene 1.6.3 was a result of years of polishing, give emesene 2 a go and help us reach that level, I'm sure it will become better than that in the following months. Don't waste energy on two projects when we can focus on the latest version.
- we still need packagers! the main reasons of instability are package related, help us get great packages to avoid wasting energy on things that are not related to emesene's code.
- saying that it sucks, or that you will switch to other client if we don't do what you want doesn't help a lot, please help us by recruiting more developers and that way the problems will solve quicker and you will eventually get what you want

I think there should be open issues about different missing packages, probably having a label to identify all of them. That way if somebody would like to start packaging emesene could be in touch with other people interested without going through the whole bureaucracy of big distributions and keep the code commited into master (or at least some synchronized branch).

You should add ppa installing instructions for ubuntu or at least a link to the ppa in the downloads tab on emesene.org. It's really hard to find

There are no plugins in emesene 2.0 and it will be nice to have now playing plugin like other emesene releases.

1 cuando me envian un emoticon hay forma directa de agregarlo? o la unica manera es ir a la carpeta donde los guarda y cargarlos manualmente?
2 es posible que no guarde el historial, o borrar el de un solo contacto? por lo que vi se guarda todo en una misma base. al guardar todo en la misma base con el transcurrir del tiempo no se hará muy pesada?

@RxTx: hay un par de desarrolladores tratando de compilar un instalador para Windows, el problema es que genera muchos dolores de cabeza y lleva mucho tiempo hacerlo y probarlo bien.

@Abejo: en la versión de desarrollo ya se agregó la opción de "robar" emoticones, no estaba lista para el release.

Estoy re contento con el progreso de Emesene2. Sin embargo, no veo el avatar ni los emoticons de un contacto que usa Emesene2 en Ubuntu Natty como yo (y tampoco ve los míos). Abro un topic en el foro con esto?
Deberías crear algun sistema organizado de plugins (en la pestañita al lado de downloads) y me vendría muy bien que permitieses configurar entre ver iconos del msn y ver iconos personalizados.
Yo lo uso mucho, y no me gusta desactivar ambos aunque es lo que vengo haciendo.

However, I think it's a bad idea removing all Emesene 1 downloads, as it was a good option when someone needs a light and good looking client that is guaranteed to work *right now*. The other day I wanted to download Emesene 1 portable for windows for someone and I was unable to.

En mi opinión emesene2 debería ser más simple. Actualmente donde el diseño sencillo es más valorado, nos encontramos con una pantalla de inicio (por ejemplo) llena de campos de texto e iconos (tanto de "demostración" como de "estado").
Personalmente, eliminaría los iconos y dejaría sólo usuario y contraseña, con un icono apartado que sirva para configurar el protocolo. Como en versiones anteriores del git.
Respecto a la ventana de lista de usuarios y de mensajes, si fuese un clon en diseño del primero sería mucho mejor. Actualmente está demasiado lleno de detalles innecesarios.
Y como último punto me pregunto si deberíais cambiarle el nombre a algo más genérico, ya que ya no es un simple ciente para la red MSN.
Lo pondría en inglés, pero después de la biblia que he escrito me da pereza traducirlo.

puedo simplemente borrar los archivos tal cual?

emesene 2.11.4.1 for windows did not have any uninstaller included. It should be fine to just delete the files for now. New packages will include an unistaller. I am also trying to put together an uninstaller for older versions.
