Another month has passed (actually two, but who cares), so here we are with the new release: emesene 2.11.7!
A new version of course bring a new set of features, so here's a list of the most important ones:
- Plugins and themes can be loaded from ~/.config/emesene2/[plugins|themes]
- Avatars for Google talk and Facebook
- Mail access in Google talk
- A new Windows installer
- Unity launcher support
- Fully supported Adium theme set. All the themes are now Adium style
- Conversations don't close when the user is disconnected
- Updated translations
- Again, more than 100 user reported issues were closed
Thanks again to everyone who helped making this release possible, being it by contributing a huge amount of code, or by simply submitting a bug report. Every contribution helps to make emesene better.
Of course we can always use some extra people that help develop emesene. You might think it too hard for you, but if I may take myself as an example: about half a year ago I didn't even know python yet, and here I am writing you about the new emesene release. It's not that hard really, but coding still takes time, which is not something we have a lot of. That's why we need you.
Now, to download emesene 2.11.7, the source is available as a zipball or tarball. Just extract and run!
Other packages should be available soon. Just watch the download page.
emesene is a chat program that allows you to connect to different networks like MSN, Gtalk, Facebook chat, Jabber and others.

(The emesene is support hungarian language, you don't need to download a po file)
Why can't I see any of the MSN Groups that I'm in? Can't see them nor when anyone writes in them.
Running 2.11.7 under Arch with pywebkit installed as it should!
And I don't mean conversation groups or temporarly groups you're invited to.
It's those groups that you're always invited to and pop ups as soon as anyone writes in it.

hay un problema en la version para windows, a veces al ocultar emesene al tray icon luego no permite mostrarlo de nuevo

@Mirko: the ppa contains the latest stable version, so it will be updated with 2.11.7 as soon as our debian packagers pop out from their holidays

hello! the new interface of emesene is pretty good, but i'm missing the "now playing" plugin and the full webcam suport... so
can i move plugins folder files from emesene 1 to emesene 2 plugins folder?

I don't know why adium themes aren't working for you. The crashing issue was fixed in 2.11.6-devel so it should be fixed in 2.11.7. I haven't had the issue with it since it was fixed, and I even purposely tried to cause it.
Only thing I can suggestion is completely remove it. Make sure no files remain from emesene2. Then reinstall 2.11.7. Also maybe try the portable version of 2.11.7, see if its happening there.

emesene1 plugins are NOT compatible with emesene2, so copying the older plugins won't work. There are emesene2 plugins available at https://github.com/emesene/emesene-supported-plugins and there IS a now playing plugin there.
Unfortunatly there is no webcam support right due to microsoft changing something on there end and lack of dev resources on the emesene end.

I have tried both version, it facing the same problem.
When i press enter for sending message out while using adium theme, my emesene 2 immediately hang.
I would like to know if I can use it as Multi-protocol already =P

where i can get pluggins?
a couple of questions.
where can one get plugins for this version? mainly i'm looking for the one that showed the last few lines of the previous conversation when you started a new one.
also, the config offers the "enable logger" option but i can't seem to find a way to view the logs. any hint on that?
and finally, i'm using xmonad and whenever a new window is opened, the input field takes up exactly half the size of the window. this is extremely annoying. is there a way to configure emesene2 so it doesn't happen? emesene1 worked just fine in this regard.
and of course, thank you very much for your efforts. emesene is greatly appreciated.
It's still locking for me using webkit rendering (just text output works) on all my windows (Windows 7) machines

where can i find working plugins (like now playing) for emesene and how can i install them?
