well, this is just the foundation for something that I have in mind
here is just what I hacked today, now I have to implement the conversation theme loader, manager and that stuff, and all that maintaining compatibility with the ones that don't have python-webkit.
I know, the theme is ugly, is what I did in 10 minutes to make the screenshot :D
Update, I made this theme and now the emoticons are shown ;)

Whoooohooo!
Can you set a custom background? Also a static one will be appreciated (also ONLY A FLAT / FADED COLOUR ;)
(so we can sync with wlm)
@Orfeo C: all you can put on a web page you can put it on the conversation now, since it uses webkit, that is the render engine of safari, konqueror and Chrome.
Woah! Good work!
Mate.... Good work... I glad to see the advance of the proyect... Cheers!
Mariano.... To the Adium message styles... Maybe you can check this IM... Is call Galaxium, and suppourt the message styles from Adium very well... Works nice, but the proyect is stuck, really sad, is a nice proyect.
But the way... I try to use mesinyer trough the repository but the contacts never load and i can't do anything... The image shows the state...

Good bye!
It looks nice, but you should work on the webcam support, and THEN add nice looking stuff like that :p
You're the one who can save msn under linux; all others clients are shit.
Frankly, I prefer the classic Emesene. I think we should have both options in order to please everyone. :D
Thank You!
Good Work. ;)

@geral: the clasic theme can be made, in fact if you dont have python-webkit it will use the classical style.
the theme shown is just an example, a better one will be made for a release and more options will be available too.
La versión 2 traerá mejor soporte para mensajes offline? porque por ahora no me están funcionando a mi.
Otra: cuando la PC deja de estar idle el estado del emesene no cambia, sigue en inactivo.
Gracias! Un saludo y suerte!
@luismarianoguerra
Yep, i know what is a webkit (and i've read the emesene code about the using of webkit), but i don't know WHAT ARE THEIR LIMITS, if you say that it's render engine of safari/chrome...let's customize backgrounds!!! ;)
very nice! but, could you pls tell me the required packets that need to be installed in order emesene2 to work properly? When I run emesene.py I can login but the contact list is completely empty...
keep up the good work!
hm... the problem with the empty contact list seems to be with authentication when attempting to get contacts from hotmail.com (or something like that, I can provide error details if you want)
Very Nice Hack!!!
I want backgrounds and stuff...
keep on working...
[MORE EYE-CANDY]
it would be Cool to have a "customized" window layout without window border (like WLM)
so the method:
gtk.Window.set_decorated(false)
is useful to make some eye-candy look.
Another thing: Is there a way to set panel's background as pixmap? If you can do it we can have a COOL eye-candy windows ;)
Users can make some default backgrounds (and then we can share backgrounds with WLM2009/WLM8.5)
What do you think about it?
@orfeo C
I like software that is well integrated with the desktop, so I prefere default look & feel.
In that way emesene looks & feels like your desktop, has the same theme and other stuff.
I don't like windows philosophy "every app looks different and you have to learn to use it from scratch because each team makes his apps as they like"
k mola :)

"I like software that is well integrated with the desktop[...]

Got it, maybe me & emesene-plugins-extra team can dev a plugin about this feature!
I think that users should decide what is their software's Look&Feel!
Nice! :)
can your please make Emesene work on Windows, i cant have linux on my school computer :/ so i have to use windows xp :S and i realy want Emesene <3
@ Myx0.x3
Emesene works under windows!Take a look @ blog, you can see a News where you can download an emesene executable!
Genial lo del tema!!
Está como el MSN 2009! jajaja
Quería preguntar, exactamente que parte de los mensajes offline funciona en el emesene 1.0.1, no termino de entender para que funciona el botón de reconectar... (aparentemente no funciona)
Un saludo!!
(si queres respondeme en ingles así mas gente lo puede leer)
"" I don't like windows philosophy "every app looks different and you have to learn to use it from scratch because each team makes his apps as they like" ""
I AGREE!!!
I been testing the SVN Emesene 2,
works nice, look great,
small and clean interface,
PyGTK uses just few resources.
Agree with the rest, keep the desktop homogeneous thanks to GTK. And I also agree with this:
"It looks nice, but you should work on the webcam support, and THEN add nice looking stuff like that :p
You're the one who can save msn under linux; all others clients are shit."
Save us ! :D
Can we have webcam support?? Then add those eyecandy features, because I think webcam support is something important to today's modern IM programs. Thanks
Questions here...
Since emesene is using Webkit engine, is it possible to use JavaScript too? Or its only consuming the Web Core?
In case JavaScript is available, it would be possible to add effects and stuff (and manipulate conversation though DOM with it)... but it might be a security risk.
Thanks!
